Mining buildings — the machine sets the height, not the footprint

The short answer A crushing hall is sized by the maintenance lift above the crusher, the gallery is sized by where it is restrained, and a haul truck workshop is sized by the tray going up — not by the plan area of any of them. Get those three wrong and the building is standing before anyone notices.

Crushing hall

Height is set by the maintenance lift, not by the crusher. A jaw or cone crusher is lifted out through the roof opening on a maintenance crane, so the crane beam or monorail sits above the machine and the eave height follows it. Sizing the hall to the machine height and then adding a crane afterwards is the single most common way a crushing hall ends up with a frame that has to be re-detailed.

Floor loads are concentrated, not uniform. The machine sits on its own plinth and the slab under it takes the dynamic load; the frame takes the crane and the roof. Those two load paths are designed separately and priced separately.

Conveyor galleries

A gallery can run at grade or elevated, and the choice changes the structure more than the conveyor does. At grade it needs an open trench and drainage; elevated it needs towers, and every tower is a load path into whatever it lands on.

Restraint is the decision that gets missed. A long gallery restrained at both ends puts the thermal movement into the columns. Restrained at one tower only, the other end slides on a bearing and the frame sees nothing. On paper both look the same; on site one of them cracks.

Where the gallery lands on a steel building rather than a concrete tower, the building frame takes horizontal load it was not originally asked for. That has to be in the enquiry, not discovered in the shop drawings.

Haul truck and maintenance workshops

Clear span is driven by the truck turning circle plus the tray lifted for service. A workshop that holds a 90 t haul truck needs the door height and the clear height for a raised tray, and the span has to let the truck turn inside without shunting.

The maintenance workshop and the store are usually one building and two load classes: the workshop carries crane duty and floor loading, the store carries racking and nothing else. Splitting them by structure or by fire compartment is cheaper than building one hall to the heavier of the two.

What we can and cannot show you

The five buildings this site publishes are two food factories in Brazil, two waste treatment plants and a logistics warehouse in Burkina Faso. None of them is a mining project, and no mining reference is claimed here. The engineering above is how the building type is sized; it is not a portfolio claim.

What can be verified today: spans delivered from 30 m to 100 m, bay spacing at 6 m or 7 m, a 125,000 m² production base with six workshops and four 150 t overhead cranes (West Zone, from 2026), and an ISO 9001 certificate numbered 19822QA0131R1S valid to January 2028.

Numbers behind this page

Production base 125,000 m² across six workshops; overhead cranes four at 150 t each in the West Zone from 2026; factory established 2000, current company name since 2014, exporting since 2004; quality management ISO 9001 — certificate 19822QA0131R1S, valid to January 2028. Certificate and inspection records.

Delivered spans so far 30 m to 100 m at 6 m or 7 m bay spacing, five buildings totalling 19,800 m² in Brazil and Burkina Faso. The full record, in numbers.

Send the process inside the building and the loads it has to carry — span, length, eave height, crane duty or none, and the roof and wall spec you are working to. Sizing comes back as a drawing question, not a price. Send a project description.
